The investigation began in response to allegations that Tampa area restaurantsz were advertising grouper on menus but servinh lessexpensive fish. In 2006, the attorney general'ws Economic Crimes Division dispatched investigatorse to collect samples for DNA analysis from more than20 restaurants. The Divisiob found that 17 of the restaurants were substitutingalternatde species. Sysco supplied productzs to 14 ofthese 17.
