million contract to build a new airfieldx maintenance technical training complex at Lackland AirForce Base. The complex will support the Inter-American Air Forces Academt at Lackland. The government will build a 74,000 square foot complez at Lackland that willhouse classrooms, aircraft operationzs and hangar maintenance training areas as well as administrative space. The projectt is slated for completion in the fallof 2010. The Inter-Americaj Air Forces Academy currentlhy offers this training at Port San the former Kelly AirForcer Base.
By relocating technical training from Port San Antonio to Port San Antonio officials hope to reuse that spacwe for additional commercial development The military is developing this complexz as part of the 2005 San Antonioo Base Realignment andClosure (BRAC) construction In all, the government expects to spend more than $2 billionb on BRAC-related construction. The Air Force Center for Engineerint and the Environment selectedPlymouth Pa.-based AMEC Earth & Environmental Inc. as the Construction will be coordinated out ofthe company’s San Antoniio office. The Fort Worth District officwe ofthe U.S. Army Corps of Engineersx will provideconstruction management.
